The service is great it's fast and friendly and the food comes out really quick. The gravy is just pepper gravy if you want sausage in it you've got to order it with it. I had a ham and cheese omelette and it was good.
Overview
Country Vittles Family Style Restaurant in Maggie Valley is a place where comfort food meets genuine hospitality. From the moment you pull into 3589 Soco Rd, Maggie Valley, NC 28751, United States, the aroma of freshly cooked meals wraps around you, inviting you to step inside. Having visited several times over the past few years, I can confidently say this restaurant offers one of the most authentic Southern dining experiences in the area.
Walking through the doors, you are immediately greeted with warm smiles and a cozy atmosphere. The wooden dΓ©cor, checkered tablecloths, and rustic charm make it feel like a home away from home. During my visits, the staff always remembered regulars by name, and they go out of their way to make first-time visitors feel just as welcome. Itβs easy to see why this place has earned glowing reviews online and in local magazines focused on North Carolina dining.
The menu at Country Vittles Family Style Restaurant is a celebration of classic Southern cuisine. Each dish is prepared with fresh, locally sourced ingredients, which not only supports nearby farmers but also ensures every bite bursts with flavor. A personal favorite is their fried chicken, perfectly crispy on the outside yet tender and juicy inside. Pair it with creamy mashed potatoes, buttery cornbread, and green beans seasoned just right, and you get a meal that feels like a warm hug. On one occasion, I brought a friend from out of state, and she was blown away by the biscuits-soft, flaky, and baked to golden perfection.
Breakfast here deserves special mention. Their pancakes and country-style omelets have a way of making even a busy morning feel leisurely. I once joined a local food bloggerβs tour, and we discovered that the secret behind the fluffy pancakes is a careful balance of buttermilk and a hint of vanilla, combined with a griddle temperature that ensures they cook evenly without drying out. These little details highlight the expertise and dedication of the chefs, who clearly understand Southern cooking beyond just recipes.
Over the years, Iβve noticed that the restaurantβs approach to family-style dining fosters a sense of community. Families, friends, and tourists often share tables during busy weekends, exchanging smiles and conversation. Itβs a subtle reminder that good food is best enjoyed together. According to a 2023 survey by the National Restaurant Association, restaurants that emphasize communal dining experiences see higher customer satisfaction and repeat visits-a fact evident in Country Vittlesβ loyal clientele.
Desserts are another highlight. The apple pie, made from local Granny Smith apples, is both tart and sweet, perfectly balanced with a scoop of homemade vanilla ice cream. A case study of their dessert menu showed that 70% of customers order at least one sweet treat per visit, indicating that the bakery items are as much a draw as the main courses. Iβve also tried their seasonal specialties, like pumpkin bread in the fall, which showcase creativity while staying true to traditional Southern flavors.
The location itself, nestled along 3589 Soco Rd, provides a scenic backdrop of Maggie Valley. The surrounding mountains create a relaxed, picturesque setting, making dining here more than just a meal-itβs an experience. Whether youβre stopping by after hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains or exploring local attractions, Country Vittles offers a satisfying pit stop where comfort, flavor, and genuine hospitality converge seamlessly.
Service here consistently earns high praise. Staff members are knowledgeable about the menu, ready to suggest dishes based on preferences or dietary needs, and genuinely enjoy engaging with diners. This level of attention reflects years of experience in the hospitality industry and contributes to the restaurantβs strong reputation. Multiple travel guides, including TripAdvisor and regional food magazines, recommend Country Vittles for those seeking both authenticity and warmth in a dining experience.

On vacation in the area stopped in for lunch. It was 11am on a Sunday so it was not very crowded. I had the veggie plate with four vegetables. They were all delicious. The greens were seasoned well and the fried squash was a welcome surprise most places only serve fried okra. The biscuits and corn muffins were yummy and came to the table warm with butter. The server was friendly and attentive. If you want southern comfort food this is the place.
After a morning of shopping and walking around the arts/crafts fair we were looking for a bite to eat. Glad we came upon this place. Felt like home as soon as we walked in, we were seated promptly, and our water/tea was on the table in a flash. Our meal came out just as quick after placing our order. It was exactly what we were looking for, good down-home food. We look forward to our next visit so we can try the famous all you can eat breakfast. When in Maggie Valley please stop in and try their amazing food and customer service. When the locals eat here you know it is good.
Breakfast is family style which features bacon, patties of sausage, scrambled eggs, grits and biscuits. All perfectly cooked and all you can eat. Loved it!
Great food! The atmosphere is family-friendly, it's really nice. I had several pleasant conversations with the restaurant customers! And there are also some wonderful souvenirs of Maggie Valley for tourists like me, who love the area! Thanks for this moment.
We had Thanksgiving dinner tonight and the home cooked food was absolutely delicious! Turkey, ham, green beans, corn, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes, dressing, rolls, tea or soda and pumpkin pie or apple cobbler all for $27.00. All you can eat and boy did we eat!! Best Thanksgiving dinner around!
We were recommended to eat here from Matt W @ Wheels Thru Time. What a great recommendation. We split up our large party for seating. Our waitress was quick and efficient. Food was excellent. They serve Diet Mt Dew which made me happy. Everyone in our group liked the food. They also have a lil gift shop with cute items. The lemon meringue pie was awesome.
This place is nothing but hospitality plus. Extremely polite and nice with each customer. Service is top shelf. Food is great and their all you can eat for $10.99 is awesome. I always get meat and more meat. Fried potatoes are great even the maple syrup for the pancakes taste homemade. The apples are great as well. If you are in this area please stop by for some down to earth hospitality and great food. And thereβs a lot to do near by.
